Daily Devotional by PASTOR JERRY EZE (28-01-2026)
“And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?” (Genesis 16: 13)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
Hagar had despised her mistress before she was forced to flee into the wilderness. What she did wrong, caused her mistress to go hard on her until she had no choice but to flee to the wilderness where the Lord saw her. She deserved judgement, but El Roi saw her. She was in error, but El Roi saw her despite her error. Her error did not cause El Roi to discount her. What she did wrong did not cause El Roi to close the chapter of her destiny.
Friend, in 2026, be a vessel of mercy. Be merciful to those you see in error. Be merciful to those who are not yet getting it right. Be merciful to those who are struggling. Be merciful to those who have failed you or failed themselves. Don’t write people off because they are not yet meeting up. Don’t be quick to shut the doors of mercy on people who are still a work in progress. Don’t write people off in their weak moments. Be merciful.
Give people the gift of mercy freely as God gives. Make room for the mistakes of others, and be willing to embrace them and give them another chance like God did to Hagar. Take on the merciful nature of El Roi. Be a vessel of mercy that will convey the mercy of God to people around you. Be the one that will give another chance to those who failed. Be the one to represent El Roi with mercy in the affairs of men.
It is unfair to expect El Roi to be merciful to you but you fail to be merciful to people around you. It is not okay that you want God to give you another chance but you are unwilling to give anyone else another chance. It is not fair to hurriedly reject people but desire to be accepted by God. The mercy you show today might just be your passcode for future mercy by El Roi. Your seed of mercy will certainly yield a harvest in due time.
Sow the seed of mercy and you will see it return to you in a hundred-fold. Give people around you the gift of mercy, and El Roi will multiply His mercies on you.
Psalm 18: 25 says:
“With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;”
Declare With Me: I take on the nature of El Roi; I walk in mercy; I am a vessel of mercy, in Jesus’ name!
