Daily Devotional by PASTOR JERRY EZE (16-12-2025)
“And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.” (Luke 8: 55)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
When Jesus raised the daughter of Jairus back to life, He commanded that something be given to her to eat. Her spirit had come back to her, but there was need for her to eat to have physical strength. Her spirit came again, but her body needed to come again. The rising of her spirit did not negate the need for her body to eat and be strong. There was a time for her spirit to come again, and yet another need for her body to feed again.
Friend, know when you need to feed your spirit man and when your body and soul need attention. That your spirit has come again does not mean that your body should not eat. That your spirit man has come alive does not mean that you do not need to renew your mind through fellowship with God and with His word. That your spirit man has come alive does not mean that your soul does not need discipline, contentment, courage, etc.
There are times when your spirit needs to come alive, but there are times when what needs attention is your body. Know when to feed your body. Know when to give energy to your soul. Know when you are running low physically and need to feed yourself to regain strength. Know when you need to feed on knowledge. Know when you need to feed on inspiration from other men. Know when you need to take in what is missing in you.
The same Jesus who caused the spirit of that young lady to come again, commanded the people in her home to feed her. It was the duty of heaven to cause her spirit to come again, but it was the responsibility of those around her to ensure that she was fed physically. Heaven may indeed cause your spirit to come again, but the same heaven requires that you feed your soul and body rightly. Renew your mind rightly. Feed your body rightly.
Wisdom demands that you know when your spirit needs to come again and when your soul and body need to be fed. As your spirit comes again, feed your soul and body rightly.
Psalm 42: 1 says: “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.”
Declare With Me: I receive wisdom to feed my body and soul rightly, in Jesus’ name!
