“And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.” (Luke 18: 43)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
Our Focal Scripture captures that moment when the blind man received his sight. His miracle came as he came closer to Jesus. His miracle became his reality immediately he came to Jesus. His miracle manifested as he came to the place of intimacy with Jesus. Notice that afterwards, he followed Jesus and was glorifying God. He didn’t walk away because he achieved his goal of calling out to Jesus. He didn’t need Jesus less after his miracle.
Friend, the mercies of God are being shown to you so that you can continue to follow Jesus. The miracles that heaven has bestowed on you is to the intent that you will continue to follow after Jesus. God showed you mercy and turned your life around so that you can be close to Him. God turned your life around so that you can be more in Him. God turned your life around so that you can become more and more of His will for your life.
There is no doubt that the blind man called out to Jesus because he wanted to receive his sight; but after he received his sight, he followed Jesus. He came seeking for a miracle, and after he received his miracle, he chose the path of intimacy with Jesus. It is not wrong if you came to Jesus because of what you needed from Him, but there is everything wrong when you walk away because you have received your miracle.
Wise men realize that it is important to follow Jesus after they have received their miracle. Discerning men realize that what they received by intimacy should be protected with intimacy. Men with understanding realize that Jesus does not become less important because of what they already received from Him. If you walk away from Jesus because you have received your current miracle, how will you receive the next miracle?
He showed you mercy that you may follow Him. Be intentional to follow Jesus even after you get your miracle.
Matthew 6: 33 says: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Declare With Me: I will not walk away even when I have received my miracle, in Jesus’ name!
