BE ON GUARD
“But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.” (Matthew 13: 25)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
Our Focal Scripture speaks of how men slept and the enemy came and sowed tares amongst the wheat and went his way. The workers in the field, who had the responsibility of watching over the field, all slept off, and the enemy came in to sow tares. Because the men slept, the enemy found space to come in and sow tares. Because the men slept, the enemy found space to work negativity. Men slept, and the enemy had a free pass.
Friend, when you sleep instead of being vigilant, you are simply giving the enemy a free pass. When you sleep instead of watching and praying, you are simply making it easy for the enemy to step into your territory and make a mess of everything. When you choose to sleep instead of keeping watch, you might just become the victim of the enemy. Your fields require vigilance, and every lack of vigilance is vulnerability in disguise.
If only the men knew that an enemy was lurking around, seeking a chance to hit the field with tares, just maybe they would have stayed awake to repel the wicked plan. There are wicked plans and wicked arrows flying all around, and the least you can do for yourself is to watch and pray, so that you do not enter into the traps of the enemy. Be intentionally vigilant over everything God has placed in your hands.
Stay vigilant in prayers concerning your family. Watch over your next generation with prophetic prayers. Watch over your business, career, ministry, finances, etc. with prayers. Be watchful like one who understands that you are in the midst of foes. Be watchful like one who knows that the enemy is on the prowl. Be vigilant with an understanding that the enemy is seeking a chance to wreak havoc around you. Be intentionally vigilant.
To be vigilant is to stop the tares. To sleep is to allow the tares. Make your choice; choose vigilance over slumber. Don’t let the enemy take you unawares.
1 Peter 5: 8 says: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
Declare With Me: I choose vigilance over slumber; the enemy will not sow tares amongst my wheat, in Jesus’ name!
